Dedicated paddler since 1969, competing at the national level in canoe/kayak and later embracing the sport of dragon boating in 2018. Her racing achievements include the Quebec Cup, national championships, and the 2023 World Championship in Italy. In 2022, just weeks before the World Championships in Sarasota, Maureen was critically injured in an accident. This setback fueled her determination to keep dragon boating and inspire others to push beyond their limits. A volunteer coach at Banook since 1990, Maureen has steered many war canoe crews, earning a reputation as an encouragement coach who empowers athletes to reach their full potential. Now, as a dragon boat racer, she is further developing her skills through mentorship with Trevor Marshall as well as attending Dragon Boat Camps in Florida. Excited to see the growth of dragon boating in her area, Maureen is thrilled to be part of Narrows9Dragons, a team poised to make a significant impact. She welcomes paddlers of all ages and abilities to join her and experience the joy of being on the water together.
A Dartmouth native, started paddling at the Mic Mac Amateur Aquatic Club in 1970.
